I’ve spent the past half hour sorting though my WordPress post tags. I had something like 33 pages of tags, some of which weren’t even attached to any posts.
If you are anything like me, when you even remember to use tags, you probably just though in a few relevant keywords. If you don’t make an effort to re-use meaningful tags then a couple of unfortunate things happen; Your tag cloud becomes a useless jumble of word soup and Google will hate you.
Now that I’ve reduced the number of tags, the Tag cloud is suddenly a much more insightful overview of the blog.
I’m only doing all this housekeeping because I’m considering a fresh install But maybe then I’ll be able to maintain it properly.
