Firefox is awesome. I know it. You know it. Little girls in Istanbul know it. Firefox put Internet Explorer down and still had time to do my laundry and make a decent cup of coffee for me (thanks to a clever add-on).
Yes, I love Mozilla Firefox. I have always have been a fan of Mozilla even back when the browser was a closed source application called Netscape. I used to hack my Windows registry to replace the IE icon on my desktop with a sweet and fully functional icon to launch Netscape.
But lately I’ve been looking at that other browser. No, not Opera. I’m talking about Chrome. I’ll never have the affection for Chrome that I do for Mozilla. Nor will Chrome ever have a dinosaur for a mascot instead of that thing that looks like an electronic game from the 80s.
How can anyone choose between Firefox and Chrome? What’s your favorite thing about Google’s new browser? I personally like the fact that tabs run as separate processes so some stupid flash animation doesn’t take down the whole browser.
I don’t like the fact that Chrome has no built in RSS reader. I’m not really reading my feeds in Firefox, but I do use live bookmarks to see when my favorite sites are updated right from my toolbar. I’m not really interested in logging into Google reader just to see if there is fresh content over at The Superficial.
So are we going to have another browser war? I only ask because I don’t think I.e. is up to the task this time around. I know Google’s informal motto is “don’t be evil” but they are Google and I don’t know if Mozilla could take them if it came to a coke vs pepsi death match. But you know in a dirty street fight over an over priced hooker; Firefox would totally kick Chrome’s ass.
